- 2005 WSU 26, UW 22 Alex brink becomes the first WSU quarterback to win two apple cups in a row. The game is dominated by "The Ghost" Jerome Harrison, and is the swan song for Will Derting.

- One of the Three greatest games in Apple cup history if you are a cougar. If you aren't old enough to remember this one, take a look at how many apple cups we won in the 23 years before this (4/23, 0/8 in the last 8). Then realize that in 1981 we had an awesome team and needed only a win or tie in the Apple Cup or a USC loss against UCLA to go to the Rose bowl. On a miserably cold and rainy day that year the huskies made some unbelievable plays to beat us and left us home for Christmas.
- The focus from that day forward through the next season (1982 was pretty forgettable other than this game) was to win the Apple Cup. In preparation WSU moved the location of the game from Spokane where the game had been held for many years, back to the Palouse.
- When the Cougars came on to the field that day in completely blood crimson red uniforms from head to toe you knew something special was about to happen. If you want to touch a piece of that history walk into the Coug and look up. One of the goal posts from that game is still imbedded in the ceiling.

WSU Apple Cup History
and
Scores for 104 years.
The
WSU Cougar victories are in bold.
The three greatest
games in WSU history (my personal opinion), certainly the three
most enjoyable, were 1982, 1992, and 1997. I noticed that
there really isn't much about the Apple Cup on the internet,
even though it has a very exciting (If sometimes lopsided)
history. If you have any personal stories or memories
about a specific apple cup let me know and we'll add them to the
list. I entered WSU in 1979, so my knowledge before that
year is pretty weak.
