WSU and UW Pac-10 Statistics 2005
Going into the 2005 Apple Cup this is how we stack up versus the Dugs.  These Statistics are the current rankings in the Pac-10 as reported on the official Pac-10 website.  Any bold type is emphasis or notes added by Coug.com.  To see the list we used to create this, complete with the rest of the Pac-10, click here.  All in all the statistics make me feel better about the game.  Because of their recent dominance in the Apple Cup you just assume the Huskies are going to be a better team on paper than we are. The Final Statistical Score?  WSU leads UW in 18 Categories.  UW leads WSU in 12.  Go Cougs!  Lets hope the game turns out as positive on Saturday.

Did this surprise you?  Both USC and Cal have two good running backs (USC has about 7), so their combined totals exceed that of Jerome Harrison.  It is notable that UW could have beaten Cal early in the year.

This was the biggest surprise to me.  It feels like we haven't gotten there all year.  On the other hand we've been burned again and again for big plays while trying to get to the quarterback.  Maybe we need to back off a bit and spend more time defending the pass?  Or do we count on even more sacks to bail us out, since UW is last in the Pac-10 in sacks allowed (See below).

This has to cheer you up.  We're twice as likely to be celebrating over the prostrated body of a crumpled quarterback as the Huskies - that hasn't been the case very often.  In the past couple games Isaiah Stanback has become much more of a run threat to try to offset this trend.

Not the huge difference you would expect here, even top to bottom.  ON USC's part that might be because they have been so far ahead in some games they've had a lot of reserves in late in the game.
